LockScreenNotes Privacy Policy

The LockScreenNotes Developer ("we," "us," or "our") handles information about users of the iOS application "LockScreenNotes" (the "App") in accordance with this Privacy Policy (the "Policy").

How we handle information about creators who publish designs in Creator Notes is set out in the Creator Notes Privacy Policy.

1. Basic Policy

The App has no account registration and does not ask you to enter your name, email address, phone number, or similar information. We do not send the content of your notes to our servers.

To the extent necessary to provide and improve the App, we handle information such as usage data linked to random identifiers generated by the App. If you contact us, we handle your contact details and the content of your inquiry.

2. Information We Handle

2.1 Note Content

The text, handwriting, and images in your notes, and the images used to display them on the Lock Screen, are created and stored on your device and are not sent to our servers.

However, device data may be stored outside the device through OS features such as iCloud Backup. Such data is managed according to Apple's systems and your settings.

2.2 Identifiers

The App generates random identifiers for each installation or each device and sends them together with the information below. We may link these identifiers to one another for analysis.

These identifiers are not linked to your name or email address, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).

2.3 Usage and Diagnostic Information

To improve the App and fix problems, the App sends the following information:

• Screens viewed, features used, and progress through tutorials and missions
• Note designs and app icons selected, and design settings (such as colors)
• Counts that do not include content, such as the number of characters or pages in your notes
• App version, OS version, device model, language and region settings, and time zone
• The country estimated from the IP address of the connection (we do not store the IP address itself in our database)
• Information needed to investigate problems (such as error details and available storage space)

2.4 Information Related to Notifications (Live Activity)

To start and update the Live Activity that shows your note on the Lock Screen, the App sends the following information:

• Tokens issued by Apple's notification service
• Auto-refresh and display settings
• Records of whether notification registration succeeded

2.5 Information Related to Creator Notes

To provide Creator Notes designs and to calculate popularity rankings and usage figures, the App sends the following information:

• Designs selected and used, the number of times you open the App and edit notes, and the number of characters added (the text itself is not sent)
• The subject and reason of reports sent through the report feature
• Search terms used when searching for designs (used to return search results and not stored in our database)

Creators are shown only figures aggregated per design and per day, and are not told about individual users' usage. The list of creators you hide is stored only on your device.

2.6 Information Associated with Communication

When the App communicates with our servers, technical information such as IP addresses may be temporarily recorded in server logs and the like, to prevent misuse and to respond to outages.

2.7 Inquiries

If you contact us by email or social media, we handle your contact details, such as your email address or account name, and the content of your inquiry.

3. Purposes of Use

We use the information we handle for the following purposes:

1. Providing the App's features (such as displaying Live Activities and delivering Creator Notes)
2. Improving the quality of the App and analyzing how it is used
3. Detecting and fixing problems
4. Calculating Creator Notes popularity rankings and usage figures for creators, and handling reports
5. Preventing misuse and keeping the App secure
6. Responding to inquiries

4. Service Providers and Provision to Third Parties

We use external providers, such as cloud services, to store and process information needed to operate the App and to deliver notifications. Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service (APNs). These providers may be located outside Japan, and information may be stored and processed on servers in other countries.

In accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws, we appropriately supervise our service providers and take the steps required for providing personal data to providers in other countries.

We do not provide the information we handle to third parties except in the following cases, and we do not sell information:

1. With your consent
2. As required by law
3. Where permitted by law, such as when necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property
4. In connection with the succession of our business

5. Retention

We keep the information we handle for as long as necessary for the purposes of use, and then delete it or make it so that it is no longer linked to any individual.

We keep notification tokens for as long as needed to deliver notifications, and delete them when, for example, Apple's notification service tells us they are no longer valid. Deleting the App is not immediately communicated to our servers.

6. Requests for Deletion, Disclosure, and More

Deleting the App deletes the notes and other data stored on your device (except for backups and the like described in 2.1).

Because we do not verify identity through accounts, we may not be able to confirm which information on our servers corresponds to the person making a request. We will respond to requests for disclosure, correction, suspension of use, deletion, and the like of information we hold in accordance with law, to the extent we are able. Please send requests to the contact in section 12.

7. Tracking

We do not track users across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes. The App uses the identifiers described in 2.2 to analyze usage, but does not use the advertising identifier or cookies.

8. Users Under 13

The App may be used by people under 13. Regardless of age, we handle the information described in this Policy to the extent necessary to provide and operate the App.

9. Security

We take necessary and appropriate security measures, such as access controls, to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of the information we handle. However, we cannot guarantee that communication over the internet is completely secure.

10. Links to External Services

The App may include links to external websites and services (such as Instagram and email). Information handled at the linked destination is governed by that service's privacy policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may change this Policy in response to changes in law, changes to the App, and so on. The changed Policy applies from the time it is published by appropriate means, such as posting on our website. If a change requires your consent under law, we will obtain consent in accordance with law.
